Kids in Need Waikato Charitable Trust Receives Generous Grant from Grassroots Trust

Kids in Need Waikato Charitable Trust
Kids in Need Waikato supplies care packs for children in foster care, grandchildren being raised by grandparents, or any child being cared for by someone other than their biological parents.
Help can come in all shapes and sizes, and for Kids in Need Waikato, they needed a bit of help to buy a ute. After 3 years of leasing, Grassroots Trust provided funding of $57,240.00 which enabled them to buy a brand-new ute. This helped them with their travels all over the region, where they drop off personalised care packs for children being cared for in a foster family situation.
Linda Roil, Founder said "Being able to purchase a new vehicle was such a game changer for Kids in Need, thanks to Grassroots Trusts generous grant. This has enabled us to extend our reach in the community through educating more people about the important work we do for vulnerable children and their caregivers, which in turn has led to greater contributions towards our programmes.
Our wellbeing programmes are aiding social connections for the families we support; an extension of our care packs service that we have been providing for the past six years.
Thank you, Grassroots Trust, for supporting and acknowledging the work we do in the community".

2025-28 Problem Gambling Levy, with positive outcomes for GMANZ

The Gambling Commission has released its recommendations on the 2025-28 Problem Gambling Levy, with positive outcomes for GMANZ.

  • The Gambling Commission’s recommendations are potentially very good for Class 4, and have adopted/are supportive of GMANZ’ positions.
  • The Commission opposed the increase in the levy, as did GMANZ. The Commission has also recommended a change in the split between providers that would benefit Class 4.
  • The final decision now sits with Cabinet: we wait to see if they adopt the Commission’s recommendations.

A special acknowledgment to our counsel, Jarrod True, whose work on our submission was key in securing this outcome.

We will keep you updated as Cabinet considers the recommendations: Click here to read the report
